Multi-Engine Add On
Ready to tame the twin and upgrade your privileges? Let’s go!
Why should I add Multi-Engine Privileges?
If your goal is to be a commercial pilot flying for the airlines or other operators you will require Multi-Engine privileges. Multi-Time is only seconded in importance only to that of Multi-Turbine Time in your logbook
What’s Required?
Requirements for the Commercial are outlined in Part 61 Subpart F:
Hold a current Private / Commercial Certificate
Hold a Third Class medical to sit for the examination
Receive and log training towards the rating.
Pass an examination from an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner
How much does it cost?
This is entirely subjective to the individual but I would recommend you budget $7,000-$10,000
Expect 10-14 hours of Dual-instruction in the Aircraft, and another 2 hours for checkride.
Wet rates of the aircraft range from 285-329/hr. My Multi-Engine instruction rate is $85/hour.
How long will it take?
Entirely subjective, but we can accomplish the Multi-Engine Add On in 2 to 4 weeks

What aircraft will we fly?
Beechcraft Duchess BE-76
Other Considerations / recommendations
I highly recommend that you come already with your Complex / High-Performance endorsements, and your Instrument Rating completed. Without the level of knowledge of complex systems and high performance aircraft the learning curve will be steep and you may fall behind the airplane easily.
Completing your Multi-Engine before your Instrument Rating will result in you having to sit for an additional examination to add instrument privileges once your Instrument Rating is complete.
